6th Grade Religion

 “So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1Corithians 13:13

 Text: We Believe – We Are God’s People

 The major theme this year is learning about God’s love for His people and His actions in their lives throughout history.  The four areas of study are:

  • Unit 1 – Forming the Covenant
  • Unit 2 – Building the Covenant Nation
  • Unit 3 – Redefining the Covenant People
  • Unit 4 – The Covenant Fulfilled in Jesus

 The students will respond to these units by thinking about ways our faith affects the things we say and do, by sharing our faith, and by showing love for God and others in our homes, school and community.

5th Grade Social Studies

The United States

 “Observe good faith and justice toward all nations.  Cultivate peace and harmony with all.” George Washington

 The birth of our nation was built on good citizenship.  Good citizenship is about watching out for others and lending a helping hand whenever possible.  It is and was a integral part in building our nation from the early beginnings to the present.  As we study the history of the United States the students will witness the strength and determination of people who came together and made our nation strong and prosperous.

  • Early Life, East and West
  • Colonial Life
  • The American Revolution
  • War Divides the Nation
  • The United States and the World

6th Grade Social Studies

The World

The students will strive to become citizens of the world by respecting and learning about other countries and cultures.  They will begin to understand that people of the world are more alike than different.  Students will appreciate the tradition and customs of other people in nations throughout the world.

  • Early Civilizations throughout the World
  • Mediterranean Empires
  • The Medieval World
  • Discovery, Expansion and Revolutions
